The music industry tends to wake up slowly at the beginning of each new year, but that doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of new music to listen to already in 2023. Some releases came highly expected and anticipated, like Winter 2022 issue guest editor Margo Price‘s Strays and January Spotlight artist Pony Bradshaw‘s North Georgia Rounder. But others, like Molly Tuttle’s mandolin-led cover of Olivia Rodrigo’s chart-topping pop song “good 4 u,” snuck in at the end of the month like a surprise hit we didn’t even know we needed.
