Whether it’s acting, dancing and as a social worker, he transcend in all the aspects. He is one of the few Telugu industry actors who did more than 150 movies and has millions of fans to die for. He is addressed as Mega star like it’s a part of his name. He is none other than Mega star Chiranjeevi. Born and brought up in Narsapur, Andhra Pradesh. He was named as Siva Sankar Vara Prasad, later changed to Chiranjeevi on the advice of his mother. His father Konidela Venkatrao was a constable, moved from one place to another on regular basis due to transfer. So he spent his childhood with his grandparents. His interest towards movies right from childhood made him move to Chennai and join madras film institute. Ups and downs are like stepping stones towards success, after struggling for a while Chiranjeevi got role in Punadhiralu(1979) as a lead. But Pranam Kareedhu was the debut movie which got released first in 1978 in Tollywood. His excellent dancing, acting and terrific fights in several movies stole audience heart. Not only entertaining audiences with his creative side but by sharing social message through films is one of the main criteria in choosing films. Subhalekha was one of those social message films which dealt with the dowry system that was a super hit. Swayam Krushi was the film which brought him first Nandi award in 1987, since then there was no looking in Telugu industry. Along with Telugu he also performed in Hindi and Kannada films. After a gap of few years in late 90’s, he bounced back with Annayya and Indra in 2002 which broke all the records in Tollywood industry and brought him another Nandi award and film fare. In 2006, he was honored with the padma bhushan for his contribution in Indian cinema. Later after 2008 he took a break for 10 years and focused on the political career, which was not bright as his film career. He was a member of rajya sabha and became an independent charge of the ministry of tourism in 2012. Later from 2014 he distances himself from politics and made a comeback film which was his 150th film titled as Khaidi No 150 in 2017. After being more than two decades in Tollywood industry his movies are still loved and appreciated by audience. Chiranjeevi is a man with a golden heart. He started Chiranjeevi charitable trust in 1998 which includes an eye and blood bank. It is one of the state’s largest recipients of eye and blood donations.
