The history of the IQ test
French psychologist Alfred Binet and his colleague Theodore Simon developed the first intelligence test in the early 20th century. Finding out which pupils needed more class aid was their goal. The Binet-Simon Scale inspired the IQ test, a more contemporary version.
The IQ test has been updated many times. One of the greatest advances was David Wechsler’s 1949 Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC). This exam expanded IQ testing beyond verbal skills by measuring processing speed and working memory.
