There’s two stages of a draw are cupping and drawing.
When the punch contacts the blank, the front end of the punch first imprints the material into the mold. At this point, some stretching will occur, and the so-called “impact line” will be produced. This is a noticeable thinning area that thins around the radius of the bottom until it just enters the straight wall of the housing.
