Landlord Carl Haglund of Seattle claims that the restrictions imposed during the pandemic have led to an increase in rent skippers. Haglund contends that the recently passed city ordinance makes evicting the renters in compliance with this COVID requirement more difficult and expensive. Haglund mentioned the situation of a specific tenant—KING 5 will omit the tenant’s name—who allegedly hasn’t cleaned up after his animals in months. Haglund claims that the tenant has also been paying rent past the deadline. At least 10% of the landlord’s numerous tenants are allegedly in arrears on their rent.
